GSC-Quality Chemist Intern (Summer 2026)
What we are looking for: College level student that is studying a science (Biology, Chemistry, etc.) that can prepare, test and analyze samples in a high-volume lab.
Soft skills:
-Ability to communicate (especially when things go wrong, does not hesitate to ask questions).
-Work ethic; can stay on task and work for long periods of time in the lab. Has a “can do” attitude.
-Adaptability; can maneuver tasks/schedule when asked without frustration
-Time management; understands the priority list, understands when it is time to work/ having down time. Understands urgency when tasks/tests become “hot”.
-Teamwork-works well with others, friendly, and does not create a combative and/or negative atmosphere for others.
- Can take instruction and follow through to completion.
Technical skills:
-Lab/benchtop experience; (this can be satisfied through their course work with attached “labs”); Examples; pipetting, pouring solutions, preparing dilutions, etc.
-Operating laboratory equipment/methods, UV-VIS Spectrophotometer, HPLC, GC, Viscometer, Densitometer, Analytical Balance, Monier-Williams Distillation, Kjeldahl Distillation (These are not mandatory and they will certainly be trained, but would be an added bonus if they have any experience)
-Understands laboratory safety; wearing PPE, chemical handling, wearing proper gloves, flammability, combustibility, etc.
-Experience using Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Added bonus if they have operated ChemStation and Shimadzu UV-Spec software.
